I am in a total quilting funk! I have no inspiration, no desire to create, nothing. I look at my fabrics, and nothing happens. I look at fabrics for quilting bees, and nothing happens there, either. ARGH! What is going on with me?
Maybe vacation will inspire me? I'll be visiting some new quilts shops... maybe I'm just tired of the same old stuff in my local shops. I think the economy is hitting them- none of them seem to get new stuff in anymore.
I'm hoping to be inspired by the ocean and the mountains and the fall foliage, too. It's pretty flat and boring around here! And I am always inspired by trips home to see my dear friends.
In the meantime, though, I still do have the inspiration and desire to knit! So at least I'm still making stuff.
Have you had this problem? How did you bring yourself out of it?

Fabric shopping is always a good cure, it always works when I have quilting funk. Also I look at all the beautiful quilts at flickr.
ReplyDeleteHope you get over the blues soon :-)
When I'm in a rut, I either take a little break and do some hand embroidery or one of my other many hobbies, or I just go on a shop hop excersion! Which I will be doing this weekend! I also look at all the awesome blogs that are out there and go thru some older entries that I haven't seen in a while. I usually find something I haven't seen, or always wanted to make myself. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe shop in Cedar Rapids would totally inspire you! http://www.pineneedles.net/store/pc/home.asp
ReplyDeleteAnd you should come over and see what I got on the bus tour. OMG! And sometimes you just need a break, you totally have vacation on your mind and know that you can bring your knitting, but not quilting, so maybe it's your way of coping with not quilting for a bit.
Being in a quilting funk, as any funk, is usually to do more with what is going on in other parts of your life. when you are excited to jump out of bed every morning and get onwith life, the artistic juices just can't help but flow. Nicola http://www.quiltforfunandprofit.com
