I've been going through one of those phases when I just really don't feel like sewing. Fortunately I have another hobby or 12 to tide me over until the urge to sit at the sewing machine strikes again :)
I was reading some of the blogs of people in a new swap group I'm in and came across the Badskirt blog! She has been making crocheted squares and they just looked so cute and like they were so much fun to make! I hadn't crocheted in years and years and years, but I wanted to make some.
So, I hopped in the car and went to The Fold, the amazingly wonderfully fabulous knitting/spinning/weaving shop in my town and bought some yarn and a crochet hook! A quick stop at Barnes and Noble and I had a copy of the book Amy at Badskirt was using- "200 Crochet Blocks for blankets, throws and afghans" by Jan Eaton.
Here's what I have so far! I stuck to a color palette of tangerine, turquoise and white, using Cascade 100% wool yarn. It's fun working with these colors in the dark and gloomy weather we're having :)
I have another one almost done. These are totally addicting. And they are instant gratification, too- it takes an hour or less to whip one of these up!

Those are really pretty! You make me want to whip out the old crochet hook!
ReplyDeleteI have that book and what a beauty it is! I love looking at all the squares and the colours. Looking forward to seeing what you create.
