Binding Quilts

I am working on the binding of my sister's quilt. The quilt is 89" x 107"- in other words, HUGE! And I feel like I've been working on it for days, and I'm not getting anywhere! It seems that every time I think I'm getting close to a corner, I look again, and 12" has been added! Is it growing? Is an invisible quilting gnome taking the stitches out when I'm not looking? I am taking a break from it right now. I really, really wish there was a way to make binding by machine look decent, but as of right now, there is not. So, by hand it is!

We are getting snow. Again. Huge big flakes that look like they'd give you a bruise if they hit you! Hopefully we won't get too much, but they said we could get another 6", since we are so close to the Wisconsin border. This would be on top of the 12" we got yesterday! And then the bottom is supposed to drop out of the temperature. -5, with a wind chill of -20! Yikes! Good thing I am done Christmas shopping!

I plan to empty out and re-organize my sewing room this week. I can hardly get in there right now! I really need to stop buying fabric. Or I need to start actually making something out of what I buy! Sometimes I wonder if I am actually a quilter, or if I am really a fabric collector who uses quilting as an excuse to buy fabric!
